Coming to Whistler August 8th through
16th, the Kokanee
Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival promises to provide world
class mountain biking, huge prizes, and events and activities for
all levels of bikers.
Two New Events Added to the Schedule
This year's festival will feature two new events; a Best Trick competition and a Giant Slalom. Other events to look forward to include the Monster Energy Slopestyle, where 16 athletes will compete for $30,000 cash in prizing, and the Monster Energy Garbanzo downhill where world cup and local riders will compete.
Mountain Biking Activities for All
In addition to the main events, there will also be activities for the younger crowd, including Kidsworx for kids ages 6-10. Female riders looking to improve their skills should check out Womenzworx, which will kick off on August 10th with a day of training followed by one day of competition. For those who want to check out the latest gear, the Expo beginning at the base of the mountain and spreading through the rest of the village is the place to go. And, for anyone with a driver's licence and a credit card, a Demo area will be set up where you can try out XC, Freeride and Downhill bikes and components.
Other events worth checking out include the Canadian Cheese Rolling Championships, which has competitors chasing an 11 pound wheel of cheese as it rolls downhill, and the Deraylor Music Festival which will be hitting the village from August 13th to 15th.
